Core Perspective: The Practice of Humility & Adaptability

Our story of humanity is a long road of struggle, reflection, and learning. Although we continue to make mistakes, difficulties pass and we grow. This perspective leads me to view teaching as a discipline that requires humility, patience, wisdom, and a lifelong desire to learn alongside my students.
Without humility, a teacher can never truly understand or empathize with a student’s lived experience. I intentionally design my classroom space to be deeply student-centered rather than teacher-oriented. Practicing this humility allows me to enter new classroom environments with complete adaptability, respecting the regular routine while immediately prioritizing a safe, organized, and continuous learning environment.

Nurturing Expression through Pacing and Mindfulness

When individuals engage with creative expression, they are often navigating deep personal questions of identity and self-discovery. It is common to feel intense pressure to master skills immediately, but meaningful growth requires time and patience. Because of this, I prioritize teaching two essential mindsets that serve as both artistic and behavioral tools: enjoying the process & self-awareness.
Enjoying the process teaches students to focus on the creative journey rather than just the final product cultivates high emotional intelligence and focused self-regulation and self-Awareness encouraging students to notice the patterns of their moods and feelings helps them feel in control of themselves and trust their decisions.
By anchoring students in the present moment, I maintain structured behavioral pacing and strong classroom management, turning artistic exploration into a calming, highly focused, and well-regulated studio environment for any group.

Unriddling the Mind: Interdisciplinary Problem Solving

To help students achieve this level of self-understanding, I teach them to express their emotions and technical challenges through both art and reflective text.
Words on paper reveal more than the mind can think. Writing out thoughts and feelings helps students unriddle their minds, it's almost like writing out and solving a clear math equation on paper; everything becomes clearer. This interdisciplinary approach builds strong critical thinking, literacy, and analytical skills, allowing artists to self-assess their growth and communicate their ideas with absolute clarity.
There is a beautiful simplicity in innate creativity that often gets buried over time. As an art teacher, my mission is to revive this open-minded way of thinking while nurturing the whole person, ensuring strict safety compliance, and partnering effectively with educational programs to help students carry these roots of resilience far beyond the classroom walls.
